After CU & Me concluded I carried on with my research and created the "Choose to REuse" campaign. At the time, because of proposed state legislation the City of Champaign was unable to proceed with a plastic bag ban but they still have a desire to reduce single use bags in our community.
Choose to REuse is a campaign designed to encourage the use of reusable bags by serving as a reminder to bring reusable bags, emphasize shopper, community and store benefits and increase plastic bag recycling.
A redesign of a book series by Stieg Larsson.
A redesign proposal for the University's international outreach program (Illinois International) biannual publication.
CU & Me was an initiative carried out by 24 design students from the University of Illinois . Through research and local connections the students identified 4 issues within the community and then set out to encourage the community's involvement with these issues. The 4 topics that were addressed were the environment, the digital divide, the arts and community space. In November 2012 the students designed an exhibition to start a dialogue with the community.
My role in this project was to conduct the research for the environment portion. Through my research I discovered that the City of Champaign was working towards a plastic bag ban. I worked directly with city personnel and addressed specific concerns and obstacles they were facing.
I also assisted with the video portion of the project, working on story boards, scripting and fact finding.
